It also means we should never expect something when it’s never Guaranteed.  Some evidence of this stone on page 88. “We will give every mit to the fund.” The authors main point is that we should never expect something for our good works. The implied idea is that if you lie to others you lie to God. The author’s goal was that God will always know if you lie.
